Sofie

Mommy has been saying Sofie the Giraffe is coming to live with us. Unfortunately for Dalton she got here earlier and it turns out that she is not a real giraffe. Thanks mom.. for nothing. We thought we were adding to our zoo.. Here is why Mommy thinks Sofie is gonna be my new bff...

The Little giraffe was born on the 25th of May in the year 1961…St Sophie’s day!In those days, the only animal toys available were farm animal or pet figures.. That is why one day in France, a certain Monsieur RAMPEAU, who was an expert in transforming sap from the HEVEA tree using the rotational molding of rubber as a toy-making concept, came up with the idea of designing a giraffe. Such an exotic wildlife figure would be a first on the market, and its size and shape would be ideal for a baby’s small hands to grasp.Sophie the Giraffe, who looked exactly the same then as she does today, went into production on a Thursday, May 25th, whence her name. She was an immediate success. Young mothers straightaway saw that she was a must for their children when the first signs of teething appear, Sophie the Giraffe helps baby stop crying!By simple word of mouth, the little Giraffe’s fame spread. From then on in Europe, generation upon generation of children were to love hearing Sophie squeak whenever they pressed her tummy and head!Vulli, a company based in Rumilly in the Haute-Savoie Region of France has continued to keep the jealously-guarded secret of how this wonder toy is made.SOPHIE is still “traditionally” produced to this day, a process that involves more than 14 manual operations. She is made from 100% natural rubber derived from the sap of the Hevea Tree.

Anyways, I am not sure about all the hoopla but so far so good. She is pretty cute & tastes great! Sofie also squeaks. Wait a minute, this isn't a DOGGY chew toy is it??!!

5 Months

So I turned 5 months on the 1st of October.. and now I am finally old enough to make my own decisions. So.. I eat rubber ducks. A little blue one to be exact. I like snacking on his head.. What do I need a silly old paci for anyways? Everyone knows I march to the beat of a different drummer.. :)

Meet my friend Hallie...

For those of you that do not know Hallie is the great-niece of my "Uncle" Fisher & the granddaughter of Steven & Sherry's. I am one week older than her. Mommy says that means we win!! :) Obviously I am the one with the so called "flintstone feet"...

ANOTHER Concert!!

Saturday night I got to catch up with my Uncle Fisher, Kenda, Sherry & Steven at the New Braunfels fairgrounds. It was soo crowded but very noisy & lots of fun! Mommy said I had already met Stoney LaRue but I don't remember because I was still cookin' at the time! I am just thinking, Mommy & Daddy let us kids stay out pretty late with them!

Football Anyone??

SO there is this game called football. Have you heard about it? My brother Logan plays it every day of the week. Its weird. Somedays the Dad guy comes home early & picks us up then we go to school (again - by the way, how many times a day do we need to go to this school place - once in the morning for Dalton, once in the morning for Ashton & Logan, then again in the afternoon for Dalton, again for Ashton, and then AGAIN for Logan later on. And most days we have to go to one or the other a third time to do this strange thing called volunteering). As Ashton would say - OMG!

But anyways, I digress... Back to the football thingie. I sit in the sun at Logans school and watch people run back and forth on a field. Mommy yells, so does Daddy, well, actually everyone yells. Mommy says they are not yelling at me. Not only do we do this football thing for Logan apparently we go on some Friday nights too - for this thing called High School. Geez.. will this school thing ever stop? Oh, did I mention that both my brothers go outside after dinner and play it some more? They even watch it on TV. (At night AND in the mornings they watch replays). Something tells me I too will be a part of this phenomenon...

Note from Mommy

I just realized its been ages since I have done anything on this blog.. Well, a quick update from me. Liam is great. He is spitting, making lots of noises & sounds (LOUD!), he cries if he is startled, such as a suddden sneeze or a pan dropping on the floor. He had 5 more shots at his Sept. 8th Dr. appt. He weighed 17lbs. 12oz and was 26 3/4" long at that 4 month visit.

Liam is eating applesauce but no baby cereal. After realizing he did not like it I did some research and found rice cereal has little to no nutritional benefits. It is just what we teach our babies to eat with.. (but not Liam).... He has grabby hands and is interested in just about everything.

He is such fun and is so happy all of the time. A true reason to wake up each day (and many times during the night)!

Cereal Later

I tried cereal this morning. It was YUCK! Mommy said its her favorite kind - something called baby rice & she said my picture is on the box. She is not very truthful. Thats nasty tasting... I am not eating that ever again.

But I did like my chair. Its called a BUMBO - not to be confused with a BIMBO!! And Daddy bought a tray for it yesterday!! I will sit in it but I will not eat YUCKY CEREAL anymore!

Just because....

16 weeks old or 117 days... :)

from the desk of mommy....

new comment regarding wool diaper covers in case you have not seen this one:

from Amanda Q. ~ don't get it though. If it gets pee on it, how does it get clean if it doesn't need regular washing? Why am I not wearing wool pantaloons? I tried to think back to my first experience with hippy-chic cloth diapers for Caleb 15 some odd years ago and he had to have this horrible plastic cover with velcro sides over the cloth diaper. Had I known about the wool pants then, I think I could have stuck it out through two kids. Caleb only made it about 6 months and then the plastic covering drove me over the edge! I'm seriously considering having someone make me a pair of wool short shorts to wear around the house, just to try them out!

great ? Amanda - here is your answer:
Wool is very different from other diapers and covers, it has a natural antibacterial quality that prevents it from needing to be washed as often. It can be washed every 2-3 weeks unless you get poop on it. Wool has a self cleaning property called lanolin. If the wool feels damp or wet after wearing it, you simply lay it out flat to air out and let the wool do its job of self cleaning. When the lanolin properties (the waterproof properties) get too low, its time to lanolize them. Lanolizing only needs to be done every 2 or 3 months depending on how often its washed. Wool is "dirt resistant - the crimp and the scales prevent dirt from penetrating the surface of the wool fibre and the static resistance also helps to resist dust and lint from the air."

Extensions?

So I have some red extensions in this picture.. what can I say.. my mama is a little silly. She thinks she is soooooo funny. really.. ask anyone. she is very very silly!!

Anyways, lots of questions recently regarding my wool pants. Yes, its my signature style (and mine alone - seriously people - how many kids do you know that wear wool pants?), nooo they are not too hot, and yes! they keep anyone holding me from getting wet! Mommy gets them from other mommies that are talented enough to be able to knit & crochet. She gets to pick cool colors & fun appliques that match all of my shirts! Of course some of my shirts are just regular old white ones that Mommy and Lala dye. They are way too creative with my clothes people...

Anyways, then after mommy (*and only mommy) puts a regular cloth diaper on me she puts a wool cover over it to keep in the moisture. And as anyone in our house can tell you if I ain't got a cover on you don't want to be picking me up!! Unless I am wearing a pocket diaper or an all in one (AIO).. So many kinds, so little time... So.. wool holds in the moisture and prevents my friends and family from getting wet. Wool is a natural fiber that repels wetness & does not require regular washings.

I know the real reason Mommy uses cloth on me though. Truth is she loves the attention, the questions, the strange looks, and helping to lessen our footprint on the earth is a good thing too! Plus, I hate wearing paper underwear!

A New Toy

Well, sorry its been so long since I checked in.. a lot has been happening.. First things first, I have hands! They are so cool - they keep me very busy. I wake up & there they are! They twist & turn, I can stick them in my mouth, in fact, my whole fist fits in my mouth. Hands are just plain fun too watch - if you don't have some I feel really sad for you - but I am not sharing mine...

In other news I got an exersaucer Friday night - its pretty neat looking but a little intimidating. There's just so many things to do on it! A special thanks to Daddy & Logan for building it during the opening ceremonies of the Olympics! Mommy said it should have been an event since it took them sooo long!

Thats all for now - it's Sunday morning - can't wait to see whats in store!

a note from Mommy: So Little Mister is growing so quick. He weighs 15 lbs. We took him in to see Dr. M last week for a little eye allergy & the office thought it was so funny to see how fast he has grown! By the way, did you know that a cure-all for nearly everything is breast milk? HHHmmm.. I bet you think I am full of it but our pediatrician told me a little squirt in his eye (or an eyedropper full) would clear it right up. Also not limited to helping out with ear infections, stopped up noses, cuts.. the list goes on and on.... Research has shown that there are over 3 million white bloodcells in it so no wonder it is a miracle cure for some many things, hehe. So if anyone is needing a dosage let me know & I'll put some in a container for ya!! lol.

Nicknames

Okay, today is my 12 week old birthday! So just in case you forgot to get me a gift, you should know that it's okay you forgot, but next time there will be consequences.... no really, it's fine...

I think we should touch on the subject of nicknames this evening. Everyone here seems to have one. Logan may not really have one right now but when he was little mommy called him Dollface or Boo (due to the fact that Peek-a-boo was his favorite game). Surely that would be a great name for someone as cute as me? Dalton was and still is Dalti for the most part. Ashton was once Baby but Mommy decided that would never work due to Jennifer Grey's portrayal of "Baby" from Dirty Dancing and all.. So Ashton is now and has always been known as LaLa. Simply because she used to drive the family crazy singing lalalalalalalalala all the time. And it was her favorite Teletubbie. What is a Teletubbie anyways??

So.. back to me. and my nickname, or my lack thereof.. Ashton thinks fartagus is funny and she also like Chubba Bubba. Logan likes Buddy but that reminds Mommy of Buddy from the movie Elf... & Dalton does not really have a nickname for me, he just sticks to Liam - which is good considering its my name and all... Mommy calls me cute baby, chunk, poopie doopie, and sometimes baby poopie pants, oh and lets not forget her favorite - tink - its basically stink without the s..... Does anyone see where this is going? My nickname should certainly not be based on my size nor my bodily functions.. Even though that is mostly what I am about!! I should point out my name backward is Mail - so maybe that would be the right one? Nah - I am thinking something fun and original.

So if you have any ideas feel free to comment!! But only if its not based on my gas!!

Shots hurt & I am growing like a weed...

Today was great! The 4 of us kids went to see Dr. Frank & Logan & Ashton both had to get 2 shots each - the super duper news is I didn't get any!! Logan is 5'4", Ashton is 5', and Dalton is 4'6". I shouldn't probably give out my weight just cuz mommy says its impolite to ask and she NEVER tells hers but guess what - (drumroll please)... I weigh 14pounds and 9 ounces!!! Do you know what that means people? That means I almost weigh 15 pounds!! 5 more and I get the new carseat!! I can't wait! But I think everyone is kind of sad, or maybe its just that their backs hurt from lugging me around all of the time? So the point is I am growing.. Way to go Mommy! That milk on tap really works!

Well, more to come soon, looks like a storm is coming, I think its called Dolly, would make more sense if we called it Logan or Dalton, but thats just my opinion...

My Brother Logan, the Wakeboarder....

Just thought you might like to enjoy this video of my big brother Logan on his 13th birthday. And he wanted me to mention that YES, the faceplant hurt!!
